LULAC’s 14th-annual Mexican Independence Day Parade & Fiesta will take place Sunday, Sept. 17, from noon to 9:30 p.m. in East Moline. The parade starts at noon on 15th Avenue, going from 3rd Street and ending at 10th Street. A pair of Las Vegas parents who pleaded guilty to starving and killing their five-month-old baby have been sentenced to 10-25 years in prison.  Loreana Martinez, 30, and Anthony Oceja, 35, pleaded guilty for second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in substantial bodily or mental harm of their five-month-old baby, Hannibal Oceja, in February 2018.  On January 25, Loreana and Anthony were sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison with credit for time served.
